“I’am my own success story”
I’ve been overweight my entire life. I never played sports or did anything that required exercise. When I first decided that I wanted to lose weight I was sitting on the beach admiring the women surrounding me  in their two-piece bathing suits. Tipping the scale at nearly 300 pounds, I was large and miserable. In that moment, I decided that I was going to do something about it. I vowed to myself that, that next summer, I would be one of those women; I would finally enjoy life. The next week I signed up for the gym and started going on the daily basis. I decided to not only change the way I ate but I decided that everyone in my house had to change their habits as well. In order for me to stick to losing weight, it now had to be a lifestyle change.  I threw out all the processed food in the house and started shopping at the produce store. I lost 7 pounds my first week and from that point on the scale started to drop. I had my instances when I wanted to give up but I had the support of friends and family that encouraged me to keep going. Once I hit my 80 pound lost I decided that I needed a personal trainer; it was the best investment I ever made in my life. Working out with my trainer made me feel strong, confident and like I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. He made me fall in love with exercise. I’m my own success story because I was able to eliminate my own bad habits and change my personal relationship with food. It was tough and it challenged not only my body but my mind.  Through this process that I learned that being obese has a lot to do with more than just eating; most people don’t want to be fat. Weight loss is all about love for one’s self and the courage to initiate change.

I particpated in boot camp for 3 months during the summer and I went from a size 14/16 to a size 10. I'm able to walk up the steps without becoming tired and I have better eating habits. Working out and eating healthy is now a way of life for me.
